Pixelizer

Turn a hand-drawn sketch into a transparent pixel-art PNG, in your browser.

Pixelizer converts a pencil or pen sketch into clean, transparent-background pixel art — no AI, no upload, no account. Drop an image and it removes the paper background by luminance, downscales to a pixel grid, and quantizes the tones. Sliders control detail (how pixelated), the background cutoff, and the number of tones, and an ink-tint picker recolours the linework so a sketch can become green foliage or brown wood. Everything runs locally with the Canvas API, so your drawings never leave the browser, and you export a ready-to-use PNG at the native pixel resolution — perfect for game sprites and small UI assets.

How people use Pixelizer

Turn a sketch into a sprite

Photograph a pencil drawing, drop it in, and Pixelizer strips the paper background, downscales to a pixel grid, and quantizes the tones into clean pixel art.

Tune the result live

Sliders control the pixel detail, the background cutoff, and the number of tones — every tweak re-renders instantly so you can dial in the exact look.

Recolour linework in one click

The ink-tint picker recolours the whole drawing, so one sketch becomes green foliage, brown wood, or grey stone for a full asset set.

Power notes

Things to know before you dive in

  • Everything runs locally with the Canvas API — drawings never leave your browser.
  • Exports are transparent-background PNGs at native pixel resolution, ready for game engines.
  • No AI involved: the conversion is deterministic luminance and quantization math, so results are repeatable.

Questions

Frequently asked about Pixelizer

Is my drawing uploaded anywhere?

No. The whole conversion runs in your browser with the Canvas API — no upload, no account, no AI service.

What do I get out of it?

A transparent-background PNG at native pixel resolution — ready to drop into a game engine as a sprite or use as a small UI asset.

Does it use AI?

No. It's deterministic image math: background removal by luminance, downscaling to a pixel grid, and tone quantization. The same input and settings always produce the same output.
